Great circle

It seemed so wrong to fly to Detroit and then back towards Korea but after a closer look at the great circle route - it actually makes sense. Never realized this trip would take us north of Alaska!

Business class rocks!!

There's a menu!! Dinner, dessert, mid-flight snack and pre-arrival meal.

Seat controls

Bill is not as excited, he does this all the time

Minneapolis airport

It's too early in the morning so I'm amusing myself by writing this - lucky you!

So first picture of the trip is Bill getting dressed again after going through security - one time it's nice to have hips and not have to wear a belt.

The Sky Club has been remodeled - very modern looking.

We have about an hour until we go to the gate. Bye everyone - wish you were all going with us!

Getting ready

So it's the night before - and we are not packed. One big suitcase is already half full of things for Colleen so there will be no backpacking across Korea...

The dog has gone to his vacation home where he was eagerly awaited. The little girls were watching for him to arrive. I hope they like him as well by the end of the two weeks!

So now that I tested this, I'll go eat and then pack....

Plans

Sorry - I just could not get this to work on my phone so I created a new blog for the Korea trip.
It is Distant Peaks - distantpeaks.blogspot.com and anyone who was getting emails on this site will get them automatically on the new one at least during our trip. I will also probably post links to Facebook..

Trip to South Korea

We fly out of here on Wednesday - first a short flight to Detroit (the wrong direction, I know) and then 14.5 hours on a direct flight to Incheon airport near Seoul South Korea. I've been so busy and behind on everything that sitting on a plane that long almost sounds good - but I know I'll be tired of it after maybe an hour or two. Have been putting movies on my iPad as well as new games so hopefully that will pass some time.

Sometimes vacations are more stressful than you want  - the stress of getting it planned, getting everything at home ready so you can go, making all those decisions and then packing.  Then coming home to everything you didn't do before you left..... so hopefully the two weeks in-between those makes it all worthwhile.

Will try to keep updated each day but if not, I'll do it when I get home...

long time...

Its been a long time. I was just considering starting a blog just for our upcoming trip to visit Colleen in South Korea but have decided to just use this blog - really probably should have done that for our Italy Blog too - La Dolce Vita for 3 Weeks  but have linked it here several times.

So for posterity, or as long as blogspot doesn't delete this blog, I'll do it all here.

Plans are to leave Minneapolis on January 26th and return February 9th. Dog/cat/house sitter is being set up and plane reservations are made. VERY happily, we were able to get only slightly unreasonable fares that allowed us to use frequent flier miles to "buy" an upgrade to business class. Can't tell you how happy I am about that - I don't like 3.5 hour flights to the west coast so 17 hours was just a little more than I wanted to handle in coach.... :) Some payback for having Bill travel all the time.

I'm not as on top of things as usual - the Christmas holidays, very very busy months of November and December in my store - and less planning time than normal all have put me behind my usual trip planning. But its starting to come together - at least I've got hotel reservations in Seoul and Busan - with it being the lunar New Year, things are probably a little crazy so I decided to make those reservations.

More soon....

Just a Perfect Day.....

I wanted to remind myself of this wonderful Fall weather - for when its cold or snowing or raining or even when its too hot and humid (many months from now...)

Fall 2010 has been the best weather I remember in a long time - exactly what I like - weeks on end of 65-80 degrees, sunny, sunny with almost no clouds every day. Beautiful fall color doesn't hurt either... its almost making the transition into winter worth it.

Luckily I work part of the time right by two windows looking out into our neighborhood with a beautiful oak tree right outside... and every day get to drive by gorgeous maple trees on my way to pick up inventory to ship that day. And according to weather.com we can look forward to at least 10 more sunny warm days!!

Cats are enjoying the weather too....
